The atmosphere leans on comfort and friendliness, with tidy, inviting interiors punctuated by nostalgic touches like photos and memorabilia from the year 1914, including a standout 1970’s MotoCross bike that adds a slice of local heritage. This setting creates a space that doesn’t rush you—a welcome pause in the day whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee or settling in for a meal with friends or family.

The menu reflects straightforward, home-style country cooking with some standout items such as egg and bacon sandwiches served with homemade chutney, rustic focaccias, and comforting classics like scones with jam and cream or their homemade Swiss roll. There’s also a hearty hamburger “with the lot” and a popular chicken parmigiana that locals speak highly of. You can enjoy these with a good variety of teas, including an English breakfast, or something sweeter like a milkshake. The food presentation feels generous and honest, without pretense.

The atmosphere of the cafe is relaxed and very friendly. Plus it's very clean and inviting. The staff that run the cafe are very friendly and make you feel welcomed. The hamburger with the lot that we ordered was extremely yummy. The English breakfast tea drink & blue heaven milkshake that was ordered to accompany the hamburger were yummy too

A real gem. The food here is delicious country cooking at its best. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, this cafe serves superb food sure to please. They also offer a bar with some great craft brews, and it’s own resident 1970’s era Moto-Cross bike! The decor is cosy and comfortable, and features lots of interesting photos and information from the year 1914. A hard working family team keep the customers happy all day, everyday. If you’re anywhere near Erica, make sure you drop in to the 1914 Cafe. Ps-the home made selection of cakes is worth the visit alone!

So we stopped in this morning for morning tea, and all I can say is WOW. Egg and bacon sandwich was amazing with that home made chutney. And then there were the home made cakes. Will definately be rolling back to this place. Well worth it even for take away.

Wow. They have an amazing food. Their chicken Parma is the best I’ve had, amazing spuds and amazing desserts. Everything I’ve had here was fresh, delicious and priced well. Very friendly service, baby friendly, family friendly. The place has some interesting history and also designed well. This will be my point of interest next time I’m in the area. Well done guys!!!

Nice cafe in little rown of Erica. We visited Walhalla and couldn't find anything decent to eat there. After check google, we pick this place for lunch and that was very good decision. We love everything this place offer. The decor are classic and transpot you back to Victorian gold mining era. The owner very friendly and the food taste delicious. Perfect place to have good time and take away happy memory home back to Melbourne. It's a must stop point if you visit the area

Wow, I think I might have just had the best burger ever. Fantastic fresh generous meat patty with two thick bacon slices an egg, cheese, fresh salad leaves, beetroot and tomato along with a good amount of chips. So big I struggled to get through it. The service was friendly but also caring. Gave some extra serviettes and even opened the door while I held the boxes. Great ambience in the cafe with loads of bite size history lessons from the local area with photos and stories. The cafe is spotless and comfortable. Thanks we'll be back on the next trip for sure.
